What we do
VA publishes its disability compensation rates as long tables, and its rules for combining ratings as a formula in federal regulations. We built calculators that use those exact tables and rules and show every step, so you can check the math yourself.
Where the numbers come from
Every number comes from a primary source: VA's published rate tables, the U.S. Code (title 38), the Code of Federal Regulations (38 CFR Part 4), laws on congress.gov, and agencies such as the Social Security Administration and the IRS. Each page shows its sources and the date it was last updated. How we calculate explains the math, and How we check our numbers explains our sources, tests and reviews.
What we are not
We are not the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or any government agency, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by VA. We don't use VA's seal or logos.
We don't help with VA claims. Under federal law (38 U.S.C. 5901), only people VA has accredited may help you prepare, present or pursue a claim. Our pages give estimates and explanations only. For help with a claim, contact VA or find a VA-accredited representative, attorney or claims agent.
How the site is paid for
The calculators are free. We plan to show a small number of ads from Google AdSense. We have no affiliate links today; if we add any, they will be clearly marked. Neither ever changes a calculation or what we say about the rules.
